Scholarship Description
Following FEEM long time tradition of successful international post-graduate and doctoral training, and Eni interest in supporting innovation and excellence worldwide, FEEM and Eni will jointly support Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship applications.
For the current MSCA European Fellowships call, FEEM and Eni are interested in receiving proposals in the following area:
• Decarbonisation scenario for the energy sector: how far we can push our ambitions to be coherent with current technological limitations? Deep insight from evidence based research and modelling.
In the framework of the climatic emergency, the need for decreasing the anthropogenic contribution to greenhouse gases emission while providing equitable development for all is a crucial challenge. The feasibility of different decarbonisation scenarios of power sector needs to be tested by means of accurate, reliable and open energy system models. Starting from a critical review of the existing literature and through the utilisation of different models’ categories (which, together with the adoption of different sets of assumptions, can strongly influence the outputs and result of the study), the research should contribute to understanding strengths and weaknesses of already developed scenarios, together with proposing a new, 100% renewable energy scenario that takes into consideration some peculiarities of the developing regions, the most efficient technological configuration as well as the related environmental and socioeconomic implications of the proposed solutions and the needed investments.
